Spring on The Mountain

For those of you not familiar with the lingo - "The Mountain" is Mt. Rainier. On a clear day, it's where you want to be.

This is Paradise. Really. That's what they named it.

What with all the glaciers and the mile high elevation here at Paradise, it is late summer before it is warm enough for "spring" blooms.

Doesn't this moss look cool?

This is the Nisqually glacier. Rainier is the most heavily glaciated mountain in the lower 48.

This is the view across Reflection Lake.

You can see Mt. Adams from Rainier. (Other Mountains too - but we didn't make it to all the lookouts.)

I'm SO glad you started posting again...and how!! I was really missing knowing what you are up to.
It all looks amazingly beautiful....from "the Mountain" to the sunsets from your living room. The camping trip looked fun as well. When are you coming back east for a visit???....and what will you do with your pup? They are very cute by the way.
Keep'em comin'
Love, B
Meris might be bringing the baby home for a visit next week...I'm excited.

Is this hike to Paradise something a 57 yr old can handle? Amazing pictures! Thanks for sharing your world with us easterners!

I forgot to ask are those lupines??It looks like them. Anyone remember the children's book "The lupine lady" who planted lupines all throughout the town and countryside of her Maine cottage? They look like wysteria on a spike.

Good eye Vicki! Yes, they are Lupines. Aren't they pretty? And yes, Roby - you could definitely handle the hike. You will have to come next summer when they are in bloom. I think the peak of the flowers is in August and we missed the lilies which are the first to bloom.
